Are Hoteliers Next to Grasp the Power of Online Private Placements?

Last month, I had the opportunity to represent WealthForge alongside Hotel Innvestor, Ravani & Mohinder and Fireball Network at the North American Hotel Investment Conference in Chicago. The optimism in the 300+ attendees was contagious. From developers and brokers to management companies and investors, every conversation I had was filled with confidence and excitement as we countdown to the New Year.

Where is all this excitement coming from in an industry whose growth has been overshadowed in a large and competitive industry? For the first time in a long time, this sub-sector of the real estate industry feels they are being provided with the tools and channels of distribution to grow their businesses to new heights.

The real estate sector has been the leader in embracing a new way of doing business, which we refer to as online private placements and online investing. Those real estate opportunities, offered to date, have been slightly smaller deals primarily focused on apartments, single families and commercial real estate...until now.

Hotels are typically more time intensive deals to get done than the before mentioned real estate opportunities we have grown accustomed to seeing online. Since some of the rules on General Solicitation have been eased, there have only been a select few hotel deals to go live and transact digitally.

We are seeing an uptick in interest within the hospitality space with property specific portals and hotel investment banks like Hotel Innvestor blazing the trail for hoteliers. I can foresee the hotel space not only being the next big wave of confident adopters of paperless transaction processing for deals but also see the space breaking records in terms of transaction size and exposure.
